Beer list

Regular beers

• Titfer – hoppy American style amber ale, featuring a toffee/caramel sweetness on a dry malty background. The hops are American Cascade, Centennial and Chinook. 37 IBU and 5% alcohol.
• Night – a medium bodied black ale with rum’n’raisin chocolate flvaours. Night has a clean slightly dry finish and is moderately bittered to about 22 IBU using Magnum and East Kent Goldings hops. Alcohol is 5%.
• Lounge – a pilsner inspired golden ale. Lounge has a soft biscuity malt character and a light touch of caramel sweetness.The bitterness is about 34 IBU and features lots of late hopping with Czech Saaz. I have fermented Lounge with a soft but attenuative English ale yeast which brings out the hop character. Alcohol is 5%.
• Mexican Ale – very pale, very mellow, full flavoured ale. A better version of Corona. 5.1% alcohol.
• Kölsch – Cologne style golden ale, moderately well bittered, fermented with a genuine Kolsch yeast sourced from a brewpub in Cologne.
• Jamison Lager – a pale German style lager brewed with Herkules and Mittelfruh hops from Hallertau in Bavaria. I’ve used the Augustiner yeast from Munich. and yeast. A light and clean biscuity malt profile, medium body and moderately bittered with a floral and spicy hop aroma from Hallertau Mittelfruh hops. There’s a nice subtle fermentation character to tie everything together. Alcohol 5.2%
• Dark Lager – an elegant central European style dark lager. Medium bodied, light roasted coffee flavours. Bitterness is around 23 IBU and alcohol is 5.1%.
• Tangled XPA – Very pale, light biscuity malt and soft aromatic hopping with Eldorado, Pacific Jade and Galaxy. 5% alcohol.
• Troppo in Hazo – a hazy tropical style pale ale, brewed with a generous addition of oats and fermented with a soft English yeast. Hopped with Cashmere, Mosaic and Cascade. Alcohol is 4.9%.

Small batch beers

• Fifth Element – a kind of XPA style at 5.8% alcohol. It has a light biscuity malt charactacter with a bit of grainess. Lightly hopped with fruitier hops, but most of the fruitiness is coming from the yeast (Pomona). Nice bit of bitterness on the backend.
• XP-51 Red Ale – a trans-Atlantic red ale perhaps? Slightly dry toasty malt with caramel sweetness. Lightly bittered with Cascade and East Kent Goldings, has a nice gentle hop aroma. Fermented with a British yeast. Alcohol 5.8%.
• Difficult Lover – version three of this popular beer. Named by my wife, Ryoko, because it starts sweet and finished bitter. You could describe it as on old school Anglo-Australian IPA. The hops in it are Pride of Ringwood and East Kent Goldings, and I’ve used an English yeast on it. There’s a nice lingering, arch across the back of the palate bitterness to it. And of course it’s nice and malty. Alcohol 5.8%.
• Baby Maibock – Good firm bitterness and biscuity malt character, balanced between sweet and dry with a crisp lager finish. 5.8% alcohol.

Special beers

• Midnight – Aged brettanomyces stout at 10% alcohol. Very clean and smooth tasting with rum, licorice, medicinal and coffee flavours upfront, finishing with woody and leathery notes. Very aromatic. Lightly hopped. Available by the 145 ml glass, or in a blend at about 20% with either Night or the Dark Lager (middy or schooner). Not available on the tasting paddle.
• Spiced Belgian Liqueur Beer – Very full bodied, slightly sweet with a rich malt character. Flavoured with ginger, lemon grass and fennel seed to give a spicy aniseed flavour. Very warming from 14% alcohol. Served in 145 ml glass. Not available on the tasting paddle.
